Baby knits

Hello crafters,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here in the UK we had an extra day off (bank holiday), this was very much appreciated. I spent the weekend doing a variety of knitting, gardening and walking. A perfect weekend.

My knitting time this weekend was spent creating a gift for a baby that is due soon. One of the colleagues of my boyfriend is expecting a summer baby, so I decided to steer away from clothes. I decided to knit a toy and a couple of hats, one of which would be the right size in the colder months. Here is what I came up with, a toy elephant made using leftover chunky yarn, and two little hats using leftover DK yarn.

This is the toy I opted for. It is the elefante pattern by Susan B Anderson. The pattern is written for worsted weight wool, but I didn’t have any. I had lots of brightly coloured chunky so I went for that. I am very happy with the results. A perfect size toy for a new baby.

I made two different hats. One is the easy bright stripes newborn hat and one is the simple baby hat in size ‘baby’.

I am overall very happy with the set and I hope the new mum to be is as well 🙂
